Been painting instead of bloggin'
The last few days of summer are clinging on with a vengence. Today was a wonderfully sunny 70 degrees. Wish I could hoard up this great weather and then use it on some of the blustery winter days to come. For some reason the fall colors are softly muted this year. Kind of like a faded photo.

Memos to Myself
Memos to Myself
This is a sketch I did for
everyday Matters Challenge. It's a fountain I made myself using bowls from the dollar store and an old birdbath stand. Now I think I will try adding watercolor to the sketch and see how that turns out.

New Beginnings
Today was a cool but sunny day. A perfect time to get busy cleaning up the "garden-studio" place. Have been lurking in the "everyday matters" site and doing a drawing every day. I've set myself the goal of drawing-sketching each type of flower as it comes into bloom here. And already am getting behind. So far the daffodils, silver dollars, primrose, and a little purple flower I don't know the name of have bloomed.

A trip to the dentist
Today it was off to the dentist for Mica and Jakayla. And, since Gretchen had to work, we were lucky enough to also take Baylee and Melissa, which meant a ride in Friendly Frankie II. The kids were great so as a special treat we stopped at Michaels afterwards. There they invented a new game called, "hide on grandpa and grandma". The object being that they all headed in different directions at the same time. They each got a $1.00 rubber stamp for using in their comp book when they come to grandma's. Baylee hung on to hers and didn't want me to take it home with me.
Messy studio
You can always tell when my creative juices are flowing by the looks of my dining room table. And it certainly has been messy lately. Just finished painting the front of a glass cupboard that John made for the upstairs bathroom. Tried to stick with the southwest theme. It took awhile for me to get used to painting in reverse. The design did not stand out very well on the glass but solved that problem by backing the glass with orange mulberry paper
